GENERAL INFORMATION

Welcome the the Pre-1812 historic homes tour in the Niagara Region. This tour will take you around the Niagara region to showcase the surviving pre-1812 homes of the area. The history of the Niagara region is often centered on the War of 1812, overshadowing the early history of the area. The survivng pre-1812 homes exhibits life proir to the war, but also share unique stories of war effort contributions. These homes all have their own histories of how the homes were built, functioned, and how they have survived for the past two centuries.

This tour is a driving tour, public transportation does not reach many of these destinations, therefore please rely on your own transportation. The Pre-1812 historic tour begins in St. Catharines at the Brown-Jouppien House and concludes at the Danner House in Niagara Falls.

Please be advised that most of these homes are private residences, do not trespass or disturb the property and be respectful.
