Volunteers who care about local heritage will be serving you in this little shop dedicated to supporting the Jordan Museum Building Fund. You will be enticed to support the fund by the wide selection of gift items!
"You will find china, pottery, glassware, candles, linens and decorative seasonal florals to enhance your home. Or there is notepaper, napkins and books including both local and historical material. The jewellery display offers a constantly changing selection of items to give or keep.
For special times like Christmas and Easter, the merchandising committee presents coordinating items that will complement your décor. Displays are constantly changing, so you can come often!
Unique to Jordan Village is the selection of homemade preserves made by a team of volunteers. They call themselves The Jammers or the Well Preserved! Using the many tender fruit varieties special to Niagara and traditional recipes, The Jammers provide preserves that fill the display and make customers smile with memories of Grandma’s cupboard. Look for red pepper and peach relish, oodles of berry fruits, and interesting combinations like rhubarb ginger jam. Special gift packages are wrapped and ready to give.
Who can resist 39 varieties of soft creamy fudge made with real butter? Chocolate, maple praline, ginger, key lime, amaretto chocolate, and seasonal specialties like pumpkin pie fill the display cases making your selection a challenge. As a temptation, the staff will cut you a sample. Only your appetite guides the amount you purchase. Of course, you can always claim you are buying it for a friend." The Heritage Gift Shop on the Main Street of Jordan Village has watched the rebirth of this community from the final days of Jordan Wines. Its first location was in the Carriage House on the museum grounds. From the beginning in 1994, the shop's purpose has been to raise funds to build a facility suitable to store and display the artefacts of the Jordan Historical Museum of the Twenty. The collection reflects the early days of the settlers: the Pennsylvania Deutsch Mennonites and the Butler’s Rangers. With seventy plus volunteers working together, the Heritage Gift Shop continues its mission to serve customers and support the Museum Building Fund.
