GENERAL INFORMATION

Charles Daley Park, a beautiful 22.5 acre waterfront park situated in Jordan, Ontario, is renowned for its picturesque sunsets. Locals and visitors alike flock down to the sandy shores to watch the sun setting into the horizon over Lake Ontario. The surroundings of this park make it an ideal area for sunset viewing and photography such as the lake, sand, rocks plenty of green space, a gazebo, park benches and various types of trees. This area is known to locals for its gorgeous colourful sunsets, that are at times so breathtaking that people rush down to the area at sunset, park their cars up along the grassy areas right along the beach to enjoy and soak in the spectacular views.

Although this area is known for its sunsets, it also has many other features including two beautiful beachfronts, a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and parking. It is also home to "The Sunset Music Series" which offers free concerts weekly, every Tuesday night from July-August from 7:00 to 8:30pm. This makes for a great night out, not only to enjoy the free music but to sit on the hill and watch the sunset over Lake Ontario while enjoying the live entertainment.

Charles Daley also features two inlets of the Fifteen and Sixteen Mile Creeks providing areasto canoe, paddle, and fish. This area hosts many special events and entertainment under its bandshell, one of the most popular being the famous musical fireworks display put on in celebration of Canada Day. A pavillion in the park is available for rental with applications to be filled out at the Town Hall located at 4800 South Service Road in Beamsville. This pavillion is popular for family reunions or larger group picnics.

The Friends of Charles Daley Park is a volunteer organization which was formed in 2004 and is committed to revitalizing and promoting the park. Together with the help of the community, they built a boardwalk along the waterfront portion of the central section of the park. In cooperation with the Niagara Restoration Council, native trees and shrubs have also been planted throughout the park. The Friends of Charles Daley have installed 21 commemorative benches throughout the park as well as replaced the outdated playground equipment in 2009.

Although there seems to always be something going on at Charles Daley Park in the summer months, this area will always be remembered for its truly amazing sunsets. For tourists coming to the area, this is a great area to spend the entire day, finishing it off with a picnic dinner along the beach at sunset, or even just a perfect area to end your busy day stopping just to relax and enjoy the sunset.
