General Information

Why walk when you can trot? At Niagara Riding Stables the whole family can experience a horseback adventure while learning about the natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment. The passion of the owners and instructors for horseback riding is reflected through the quality of this wonderful activity. With a variety of well trained horses, they are able to accomodate riders of all levels- from beginners to experienced riders. Traveling by horseback through the escarpment gives you a memorable connection with nature and can be very relaxing. This family-run facility gives you a genuine feel for the beauty of the farmlands and countryside of the Niagara Region.

The trail goes through their 33-acre property, which is untouched with exception to horse grazing areas, and takes you into the Niagara Escarpment. The staff at Niagara Riding Stables make sure that everyone's needs are met, and that safety is always put first. The trail is very scenic, and is beautiful during all seasons; in the spring there are birds chirping, the summer months have native flowers in bloom, autumn and the colours of the Escarpment, and fresh snow falls in the winter. You may also see wildlife in this profound location.

Niagara Riding Stables has been in the McGibbon family for 50 years, with many more to come.

Ecological

The Niagara Escarpment is a very important geological landform within Canada, and is one of the 15 biosphere reserves within the country. The Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve gives the Niagara Region international recognition, and protects the natural environment, including farmlands, wetlands and forest.

With the McGibbon property spanning 33 acres, this is a large area that is undeveloped and an important area to conserve. Located on the border of Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls, the ecological significance of this area is very high and should be protected. With the surrounding properties being vineyards and orchards, this natural environment is truely an inspiring area.

Recreational

Horseback riding combines physical activity, mind stimulation, and emotional connection to the environment and horses. It is a fun activity, and there is always something to learn or perfect. It uses a variety of muscles, and is a great way to stay in shape! It is guided however, and only offers horseback riding as recreational use as it is private property (can not walk through trails on the proper.
