In July 2008 the Centre for Conservation received the SABMag Award from the Sustainable Architecture and Building Magazine, one of six awarded to projects across Canada. On Friday November 21, 2008 the Centre received certification as a LEED Gold Building by the Canada Green Building Council. Tony D'Amario, CAO and Secretary -Treasurer of the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority said that they are "very pleased that the Canada Green Building Council accepted all of the 46 credits requested. None were denied. We are very proud to be one of only six LEED Gold Buildings in Canada and hope that the Centre for Conservation will help encourage others to incorporate environmental sustainability when constructing or renovating buildings."
